Quick Reference Guides for Nursing Clinical Placements
The following Quick Reference Guides were developed to support the clinical placement process for nursing students in Saskatchewan. The Guides apply to all nursing programs that use HSPnet to request and track student placements, and to all Saskatchewan regional health authorities.
To support a consistent and effective clinical placement process, the Guides outline expectations around collaborative planning, adherence to common release dates, comprehensive tracking of all nursing placements in HSPnet (including those from out of province), and timelines for health regions to respond to placement requests and for programs to finalize student placement assignments.
There is a different Guide for each role involved in the clinical placement process:
- Quick Reference Guide for Placing Coordinators – Groups
- Quick Reference Guides for Placing Coordinators - Preceptorships
- Quick Reference Guides for RHA Receiving Coordinators
- Quick Reference Guide for RHA Nurse Managers or Delegates
- Quick Reference Guide for Preceptors
The Guides were developed by a working group, facilitated by the Clinical Learning and Interprofessional Practice Unit, and comprised of representatives of the following Post-Secondary Institutions and Regional Health Authorities: Carlton Trail College (Practical Nursing program), Saskatchewan Polytechnic Institute (Practical Nursing and SCBScN programs), University of Saskatchewan (BSN and Post-Degree BSN programs), Heartland Health Region, Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region, Sun Country Health Region, Sunrise Health Region.
