Environmental Scan for the Development of a Provincial Preceptor Website

This document is the final report from an environmental scan commissioned by the CLIPP unit to assess the need for a preceptor website to be developed in Saskatchewan. The scan identified existing preceptor resources, awareness and use of technology by preceptors and senior students, and assessed motivation and typical challenges for preceptors in Saskatchewan.

Process Mapping Report

A process mapping exercise was conducted in 2014 to document the current state for coordinating nursing clinical placements in Saskatchewan, to identify opportunities to streamline the process, and to facilitate communication among the partners. The project report identified 5 improvement themes and 16 recommendations for improving clinical placement coordination and practice education more broadly in Saskatchewan.

Capacity Pilot Project Report

In response to an identified need, to understand and measure student placement capacity in Saskatchewan, a pilot project was conducted in 2015 with the Cypress Health Region. The project report describes the project goals, process, outcomes, lessons learned, and recommendations for expanding capacity work to other Saskatchewan health regions.

Practice Education Checklist Report

The "Building Quality in Practice Education: Self-Assessment Checklist for Corporate Leaders in Health Authorities" was developed in 2007 by the British Columbia Academic Health Council. It supports a comprehensive assessment of practice education infrastructure and processes for quality review, planning and improvement. The checklist was completed in 2015 by nine Saskatchewan RHAs and the provincial cancer agency, to assist in identifying common priorities for the development of a provincial practice education strategy.
